Abstract
The research is focused on the elastic property analysis and rock physics modeling of subsalt carbonate reservoirs of several fields in the Eastern Siberia. Noteworthy features of these complex reservoirs are outlined. A step-by-step workflow to provide solid and reliable petrophysical grounds for seismic reservoir characterization by means of seismic inversion and volumetric elastic property analysis is proposed. The feasibility and pitfalls of using measured (raw) downhole logs to analyze elastic properties in the wells are considered. A key aspect of our rock physics analysis is the investigation of secondary porosity effects on elastic parameters, which is represented by vugs and solution cavities in these East-Siberian moldic carbonates.
We also discuss advantages, features and limitations of petro-acoustic modeling. An algorithm of rock physics modeling and its results, exemplified by the case study of subsalt carbonate reservoirs of East Siberian province, are demonstrated in detail.
