Abstract

The motivation of the work is to evaluate today’s 3D vertical seismic profile (3DVSP) technology driven by a 3D seismic simulation created using the SEG Advanced Modelling Program (SEAM) II model for a realistic unconventional development scenario. This knowledge will help the understanding of the value of a VSP for appraisal and development in shale plays in general, and specifically where the surface access is limited.
