Abstract

Summary

A new method, called Logarithmic Spectrum Equation Root, to extract Q is proposed in this paper. The method includes two steps: first to compensate the energy loss caused by geometric diffusion of the Vertical Seismic Profiling data and then to extract Q by solving the logarithmic spectrum equation. Model test shows higher stability compared with Spectral Ratio and Centroid Frequency Shift methods. And its application to real data shows accordance with practical occurrence, as well as effective high-frequency compensation of real seismic data after inverse Q filtering.
