Abstract
Summary
Seismic dispersion is an useful tool to estimate gas saturation in the reservoir. However, all of the dispersion inverse methods are based on prestack data which is time consuming and affected by signal to noise ratio. In this paper, we derive a new dispersion formula through the normal-incidence reflection coefficient. Then combining with spectral inversion, a new dispersion inverse method is developed. A synthetic data test illustrates that the proposed dispersion inverse method can be used to calculate dispersion and then obtain gas saturation. The synthetic example demonstrates gas saturation can be estimated accurately.
