Abstract
REPSOL and its partners operate several blocks in the Sub Andean Basins. These basins are characterized by high abrupt topography changes, dipping layers, and lateral velocity variations, complex near surface.
Size and parameters of seismic surveys are heavily constrained by economic and environmental restrictions. Depth imaging requires adequate geometries to improve illumination of the complex structures to reduce the uncertainty of the final structural model. In addition, seismic acquisition has to generate support data for model building in data processing. Therefore data continuity is required for near surface modeling and velocity analysis.
Different geometries are examined to take advantage of the potential of nodal systems using single sensors. This implementation has to challenge the critical sampling considerations for noise attenuation under the existing economic and environmental constraints. Here, we provide some insights for the evaluation of the cost /benefit. However, it is not possible to generalize a single schema or design for the already complex behavior in this type of areas.
We showed that the use of single sensors as a feasible option in the Sub-Andean Zone. Implementation of this attractive technology with improved sampling of the near-mid subsurface without additional operational costs will make sparse 3D acquisition past history.
