Abstract

Summary

The multi-monitor 4D seismic data of an Angolan deepwater field is used to understand the turbiditic reservoir production and to help taking operational development decision such as to locate some infill wells either producer or injector. The presented case study is focused on understanding an area where 4D shows some potential by-passed oil poorly connected to the existing producer. The dynamic synthesis and the 4D interpretation inferred several kinds of geological dynamic baffles: fault and relay fault zone, abandonment and erosion surfaces. The 4D information defined as connected 4D geobody is mapped into a fine scale refined grid then upscaled into the reservoir flow simulation grid, incorporating a 3D transmissibility multiplier which allows preserving the fine scale heterogeneity. The 4D and standard dynamic parameters are tuned using a conventional experimental design proxy optimization to match the production history. The final match honors more precisely the production data and the 4D data in the bypassed oil area, thanks to the 4D-induced transmissibility tensor.
