Abstract
Summary
This study deals with prediction of geopressures based on 3D seismic and well logs data for a new exploration site located in the Southwestern Cuu Long basin, the most important petroleum basin in Vietnam until now. Hydrocarbon reservoirs in this basin are Middle Miocene to Oligocene sands and fractured granite basement. The lower part of Upper Oligocene is a very shaly section is also a potential environment for geopressure. As results this study could have provided not only useful information for pre-drilling works of the planned well, post-drill evaluation of the drilled wells, but also could find out the most suitable method to predict pore pressure for next coming wells in the study area.
