Abstract

It is commonly accepted that layers thinner than about 1/8 of the dominant wavelength cannot be resolved from reflection seismic normal incidence data. We demonstrate that there is in theory no limit the resolution of normal incidence reflection seismic data. The resolution of reflection seismic data is linked to the noise level, parameterization and a priori information.
