Abstract
Anisotropic models are now widely used in microseismic data processing workflow. This paper addresses possibility of estimating anisotropic parameters of layered horizontally transversely isotropic (HTI) media from downhole microseismic data. While such possibility was shown for fully illuminated layered triclinic media in this paper we consider the case of restricted illumination which can happen in real monitoring scenarios. We show that for dual-well monitoring acquisition one can get robust estimates of anisotropic parameters of layered HTI model even for thin layers (thickness compared to the signal wavelength). For this we used kinematic inversion of traveltimes of three waves (assuming that shear-wave splitting is observed).
