Abstract
Summary
We demonstrate a method for simultaneous source separation using encoded source sequences that would be enabled by firing individual sub-elements of an airgun array sequentially. Such source sequences can be chosen so that they are close to orthogonal to each other and can be separated using a coherency based approach. The separation method that uses the source sequence signatures is solved by sparse inversion. Simple synthetic examples show that the separation results of the method are comparable to the separation results using dithered sources. We outline further development of the separation technique and optimization of the source sequences that may enhance the performance of the method.
