Abstract

Groundwater contamination by nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs), such as chlorinated solvents and fuel oils, is being increasingly recognised as a serious environmental problem. The characterisation of NAPL contaminated sites is essential for the successful design of remedial strategies. Alongside conventional intrusive investigations electrical imaging methods are now beginning to be applied to this problem.
