Initially developed for mapping deep structures, the TEM-fast variation of the Time Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) method of prospecting is one such instrument which records the decaying current as early as 4µs after the transmitted current is switched off. Due to its versatility and many advantages, the method has since gained wide application in many geological, engineering and environmental investigations that deal with shallow subsurface of the earth. The method has also yielded better results than the classical galvanic resistivity methods in many respects (Meju, 1995, 1996; Fainberg, 1999; Ranieri, 2000).
