Abstract

The majority of unexplored resources of Lower Volga Oil and Gas Region (336.9 million tones, 51.5%) are located within carbonates of Devonian. Statistical analysis shows that there is a chance of discovering at least 4-5 fields with recoverable reserves of 10-15 million tons of oil equivalent in Devonian carbonates. In this communication relevant further search of oil and gas fields in the carbonate sediments Devonian. Structural, paleostructural and lithofacial analysis of Volgograd’s Volga region was conducted in order to define zones and intervals favorable for generation of organogenic structures in middle and upper Frasnian. Zones that are favorable for generation of different types of organogenic structures and hydrocarbon traps, associated with them, were defined based on the results of that analysis
