Abstract

Our study investigates geological features and processes in the vicinity of the Nazca lines. We report a geological overview, the results of petrographical and geochemical analysis at a single test site, the interpretation of the sediment provenance and relations with geophysical observations. The provenance of the sediments corresponds to the surrounding Mesozoic rocks. The sediments suffered high salt cementation as possible product of aerosol precipitation with sea provenance. High sulphur content at the surface of electrical resistivity anomalies are probably related to cemented porosity in these coarser grained sediments.
