Abstract

The gas injection development in Kashagan aims to improve the sweep efficiency and enhance the pressure support in the field, by minimizing gas cycling and better distributing the injected gas in the reservoir. Kashagan field has an anomalously high reservoir pressure and high concentration Hydrogen sulphide in produced gas. Gas mixes with oil and displaces it as part of miscible displacement process. Testing and assessment of gas re-injection technology are the key purposes of Kashagan Experimental Program (will start in December 2012). Several gas injection studies had been performed in agip kco, the article will give a short description of these studies, provide information on gas injection principles and challenges in Kashagan oilfield.
