Geographical Information Systems on Kashagan Field Project – Through Hardship to the Stars

Kashagan is a giant offshore oilfield located in the North Caspian Sea, Republic of Kazakhstan. Agip kco company is participating in North Caspian project for a long time and it is currently responsible for the execution of the first phase (Experimental Program) of Kashagan development and for the project execution of the onshore elements of the second phase. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is a relatively new technology, and this type of implementation at an enterprise level as it was performed in agip kco is unique in many aspects. There is a number of challenges, which has been encountered during GIS implementation in agip kco. They are technical, human, organisational, communicational and others, and successfully overcoming these challenges agip kco GIS technology becomes an effective system to respond various company requirements.
