Abstract
Modern two-dimensional multielectrode measurements are restricted to a few geoelectric arrays. Specific features of about 90 another arrays are totally ignored. In order to increase the future potential of multielectrode measurements, in this paper we provide an overview about various array. In this way we present several tens of array candidates among the once-developed, nearly forgotten arrays, which could increase the efficiency of 2D multielectrode measurements in some respect. Based on nearly forgotten old geoelectric arrays, we present 25 array solutions to enhance the depth of investigation; 9/12 arrays give better vertical/horizontal resolution, 17 array solutions provide better plan-view images; 8 array solutions are worth applying in areas with limited access; 2 array solutions may reduce the effect of near-surface inhomogeneities. By raising these dead arrays, it will be possible to develop versatile multielectrode systems, more adaptive to the diverse field needs.
