Abstract

Direct interpretation (the QSP method) of gravity data along 13 profiles within the European part of Russia for the upper mantle was carried out. Some improvement have been introduced in algorithm: the optimum length of Fourier series has been differentiated for each of two criteria of interpretation, the concept of one of them has been changed, and the TNG function has been replaced with the function of total twice normalized gradient. The synoptic TNG fields were used for the analysis of microstructure of all set of transformed fields of each profile. It has allowed reducing the kept intermediate information content up to 85‐90%. Coordinates of more than 140 anomalies sources have been determined within the upper mantle. Average depth of the mapped surface is about 100 km with raises and lowerings from 50‐80 km up to 150 km and more. Positions of centers of inhomogeneities and zones of sub‐vertical contacts have been determined. Additional researches are necessary for an explanation of the physical nature of anomalies sources and of the geological nature of heterogeneities. Now a problem, whether they are connected to a modification of the mantle substance, or mantle density or density gradients, is open.
