Abstract

The latest technologies for collection of elemental data from rocks are VERY BRIEFLY reviewed (and not emphasized). The applications of elemental data for shale gas development are then explained with reference to a large data base from eight North American shale gas formations. Finally, a specific example of how elemental data can be integrated with conventional data, and used throughout a drilling program, is given with the Jurassic Haynesville Formation as a case study.
