Abstract

The petroleum resource assessment of the East Barents Basin Province, recently completed by the U.S. Geological Survey, is based on the Total Petroleum System concept, which includes knowledge of source, reservoir, and seal rocks, and timing of petroleum generation, migration, and accumulation. Using this approach, the mean undiscovered, conventional, petroleum resource in the province is estimated to be approximately 62 billion barrels of oil equivalent of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.
