Abstract

The geology of the Red Sea presents a severe challenge to seismic imaging with a hard water bottom, rugose salt, and layered evaporites of varying thickness overlying the prospective sub salt targets. The Seismic image has improved significantly in recent years through the application of state of the art technology including 3D SRME, tomographic velocity model building and Reverse Time Migration. This paper will show the results of these processes and also the improvements achieved with a new 3D survey which in part overlaps an earlier 3D survey at a different azimuth.
