Abstract

In addition to a standard narrow streamer (NAZ) vintage data (azimuth 90 degrees), a multi-azimuth acquisition (MAZ) survey of two azimuths (30 and 150 degrees) was acquired in 2007 in the Nile Delta basin, Egypt, for Nalpetco. The project had multiple objectives: Pliocene with shallow gas targets and Oligocene for deep targets. In this case study we are focusing on the Oligocene section fro which the objectives being below the Messinian unconformity, they are affected by severe multiple content and distorted image due to complex Messinian package with high lateral velocity variation in small to medium size geo-bodies. The imaging methodology selected was in the depth domain and the velocity model update was performed using CGGVeritas non-linear tomography inversion with input from the three azimuths.
