Abstract

Seismic imaging is a key to understand the geological structure of the earth. Transition zone seismic is always a difficult task, since data quality is not easy to keep up with. This talk deals with the difficulties of planning and execution of a 3D transition survey with two unequal contractors in a dense populated area and heavily used fishing grounds to peak out seismic quality and enable for a new geological concept of the reservoir. It can be shown that careful planning and execution of a 3D transition survey will eliminate many of the pitfalls during interpretation and analysis of the seismic properties such as AVA analysis and inversion.
