Abstract

Understanding the physics of the rupture processes of the mining induced seismic tremors has two important aspects. The first one is purely scientific. The induced seismicity provides the bridge between well controlled laboratory experiments on rock samples and natural earthquakes. It concerns both the size of the induced tremors as well as the measurement conditions. On the other hand, the analysis of the rupture processes of induced events is very important for an improving the safety of the mining as it is a key factor for the accurate estimation of the seismic hazard. In this contribution we present the preliminary results of an analysis of the dynamic stress drops for selected events at Rudna, (Poland) copper mine.
