Abstract

The case history presented here is for a desert environment and contains a strong lateral velocity variation (up to 1500 m/s) across a major fault with a throw reaching 3 km. The results from this study show that the new velocity model buiding approach improved imaging in the shadow zone of the fault where traditional methods failed.
