Abstract

Several prolific Palaeozoic petroleum systems are present in North Africa and the Middle East. The stacking patterns and trends of the Palaeozoic hydrocarbon-bearing successions of this vast area show trends and similarities that can be contributed to climatic and tectonic events. Several of these events and their impact on the sedimentary record will be discussed.
