Abstract

Parameters of dynamic load and in particular dynamic stress amplitude and cycle asymmetry ratio play an important and sometimes determining role in dynamic stability of sands. Thus, the results of our study of dynamic behaviour of sands have shown that possibility of soil liquefaction is sufficiently determined by the inversion of shear stresses. The occurrence of this inversion at the constant value of coefficient of earth pressure at rest (Ко) is controlled by dynamic stress amplitude.
