An imaging technique based on multipath summation approach using a new weighting function is proposed. The method is based on stacking reflection events in CMP domain where for every time sample, the wavefield is stacked together along all possible hyperbolic trajectories. We show that using the weighted multipath summation approach implemented as a single simple, quick and efficient process, one can achieve the results equivalent to those obtained by applying the NMO - DMO processing. The proposed method does not require information on velocities, since the multipath summation is performed for all possible velocity values within a wide specified range. Furthermore, the method is stretch free, since it does not implement any explicit dynamic correction. Application of the method for imaging a zero-offset section is illustrated by a real data example
