Non-linear Estimation of Thomsen's Anisotropy Parameters in Dipping TI Media

In a dipping transversely isotropic layered medium, the exact offset and traveltime equations have been formulated. A non-linear inverse model using pre conditioning conjugate gradient algorithm has been developed to estimate the Thomsen’s anisotropy parameters from the PP or the joint PP & PS traveltimes. With the assumption of weak anisotropy no prior knowledge of the Thomsen’s anisotropy parameters is required.
