A Summary of the Positioning Formats Update undertaken by OGP

Since the early 1990s, all marine seismic navigation data recorded in the field has been recorded using the ‘P’ formats. These formats were originally developed by UKOOA and then adopted by the industry for use worldwide, and have been in use ever since. The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers has been undertaking an update to these formats and is now aiming to release the updates to the industry. This paper details the changes made and provides an introduction to the new formats.
