Abstract

The new effective method of quantitative estimation of the clay minerals elastic constants was designed and implemented. The next relations between the elastic constants of clay minerals are true: C11=C22>C33, C66>C44=C55, C12>C13=C23. The constants in transversely isotropic approximation were firstly received for such important minerals as halluazite, dykite, antigorite, lizardite, chrysotile, montmorillonite, illite, chlorite, and xanthophyllite. The reliable data for the transversely isotropic approximation of the kaolinite elastic constants were received. These data agreed with predicted estimations data of other researchers.
