Abstract
Permament reservoir monitoring (PRM) seismic systems are becoming more widely adopted for their key contribution to optimizing reservoir management. We describe a PRM approach, based on fully fibre-optic sensors, which combines high sensor multiplexing ability with proven reliability to maximise field coverage for periods of 20 years or more. The approach is highly scaleable and can be applied to systems ranging from small focussed well monitoring systems up to high resolution coverage of very large fields. We describe recent enhancements to our multiplexing architecure which allow us to multiplex 512 sensors onto a single optical fibre pair, and use a hypothetical field example to explain the benefits of this approach. We also describe how the system has been engineered to ensure maximum reliability and minimum impact of external damage.
