Abstract
This work focus on inversion of shear damping ratio from simulated multi-mode attenuation dispersion curves. The aim is to analyze performance of multi-mode inversion and resolution of shear damping ratio from Love wave and Rayleigh wave. Inversion of shear damping ratio profile was examined for the normal profile (benchmark 1) and the inverse profile (benchmark 2). For the normal profile, both Rayleigh and Love multi-mode improve estimations from fundamental mode, especially for the shear damping ration of half space. For the inverse profile, although dispersion curves match well for Rayleigh wave, in which improvement is obtained by multi-mode, the estimated error of highest loss is remarkable. However, Love modes can give more reasonable profiles. These comparison results will be contributed to design strategy of shear damping ratio inversion from the fundamental mode or multi-mode, and from Rayleigh wave or Love wave.
