Abstract

The scope of this study is finding seismic attributes to predict pore pressure in an area where the seismic interval velocities are not sensible to a strong increase of overpressure crossing the Miocene-Oligocene boundary, although they have a very good fitting with the Vp Sonic log of the only well drilled in the area. Even the Vs sonic log was not able to predict the pressure rise. Analyzing the results of Vp/Vs ratio from well logs a clear variation in the trend at near Top Oligocene was observed. Elaborating Vp/Vs ratio volumes by Seismic Inversion this analysis was extended to a prospect near the existing well where an exploration well is planned to be drilled. This information is useful to better define the well planning and to support the drilling operations.
