Abstract

Multiple prediction through inversion (MPI) is the core method of our strategy for the free-surface multiple attenuation in marine seismic data. For the 2D case, by comparing f-k transform, Radon transform, SRME and MPI methods, MPI scheme can generate better results. For the 3D case, marine data are not sufficient for the 3D SRME scheme due to the limitation of marine acquisition. Following the idea of applying sparse inversion in the generalized Radon transform multiple prediction without interpolation, we apply a fast time domain trajectory-stacking method to improve the efficiency of Radon transform. Moreover, we use a much more efficient energy spectrum approach to locate the required reflection apexes’ positions. Finally, we propose to use the MPI scheme to refine the results. The whole procedure is tested by real 3D marine seismic data from South China Sea and proved to be effective.
