Abstract

The geophone array is commonly used to suppress random noise and therefore improve the signal to noise (S/N) ratio of shot records. Since a large group interval is usually adopted in the geometry, the above mentioned method can also result in damage to the signal. This paper introduces a 2D seismic project in the Liupanshan Mountains of China, where a geometry with a ‘small group interval and point-like geophone array’ and adjacent-channel mixing were used in data processing to reconstruct the raw data. Static corrections and NMO corrections for each trace are applied before summing. Compared with the geophone array in the field operation based on the conventional geometry, the ‘small group interval and point-like geophone array’ is able to produce a better stack result based on data reconstruction, protect an effective signal and improve the S/N ratio.
