Abstract

Surface seismic data imaging and VSP imaging are often processed separately, resulting in imaging discrepancies between these two methods. The discrepancies result from characteristics of these two types of data, as well as the different algorithms and parameters used in processing. Therefore a joint imaging using VSP and surface seismic data is needed to reduce the imaging errors and to improve the reliability of imaging results. In this paper, three joint imaging approaches using VSP and surface seismic data are presented. The corresponding implementation conditions are introduced and processing errors are analyzed. Results from different joint imaging methods are compared and discussed, demonstrating the superiority of the joint imaging method using VSP and surface seismic data.
