Abstract

Exploration in the Netherlands onshore is still going strong. NAM undertook a regional study in order to screen the West Netherlands Basin for prospectivity. Amongst others, prospect Donkersloot was identified. This is a fault-dip closure with a Triassic Bunter sandstone reservoir, sealed laterally by the Jurassic Altena and vertically by the Triassic Keuper/Muschelkalk. The maximum gas column is defined across the western bounding fault (3415mTVss) and a positive seismic DHI supports the presence of gas to 3350mTVss. The key risks to this prospect are its reliance on Jurassic gas charge, fault-seal and also the possibility of a compartmentalised reservoir. Imaging of the Bunter reservoir on the current seismic dataset is poor, therefore reprocessing is being undertaken, which will result in a 3D Pre-Stack Depth Migrated (PSDM) cube. Based on this, a reinterpretation will be performed and the final volumes calculated. The prospect is planned to be drilled in 2012/2013.
