Abstract

Full waveform inversion is a powerful method to obtain velocity models of complex geological structures. The method contains, when implemented without proper care, a high risk of converging towards a local minimum. In this study we use the marmousi model to compare three different multiscale schemes that try to avoid local minima by iterating over frequencies, time dampening, and different source-receiver configurations.
