Abstract
Weak reflection is indistinct in seismic profile, whereas it contains important information about unconformity which is useful in oil and gas exploration. In this paper, a physical model is designed to investigate the seismic response of weak reflector interface between two layers with approximate velocities and basically identical elastic properties. The weak reflector interface consists of eight denudation domains: three reticle domains, two irregular domains and three dotted domains. Both 2D and 3D observation experiment have been implemented on the physical model. The 2D and 3D physical model data sets are processed by using cross equalization technology and seismic attribute technology. For the 3D data set, 6 attributes have been extracted along the weak reflection interface. This research proves that the cross equalization technology is a key tool for the weak reflector detection.
