Abstract

Summary

The Vienna Basin is one of the core areas for OMV. The basin is covered with several 3D surveys originating from 1994 to 2013. Most of them were processed as standalone projects at different times. At the latest acquisition a decision was made to process all of the separate surveys together to achieve a seamless merge with state-of-the-art processing techniques. As a result of the simultaneous processing of the different surveys a new merged reference survey is available in the Vienna Basin that can be used for both regional and specially focused prospect studies. The processing of the Vienna Basin Super Merge (VBSM) yields consistent static solutions and a harmonious velocity field without boundary problems. Furthermore, special attention was given to amplitude and azimuth preservations through the entire processing. The project was performed in OMV’s inhouse seismic data processing center, supported by CGG.
