Abstract

Summary

We have proposed a new method for the magnetic field data depth estimation based on the normalized downward continuation method. The local wavenumber of potential field data is less sensitive to the magnetization direction and is widely used in the semi-automated interpretation. We applied the normalized downward continuation to the magnetic field local wavenumber. And different normalization factors were chose to normalize the downward continuation field. We selected the iteration downward continuation method to calculate each downward continuation height data, which yielded stable and accurate result. The method was examined on the 2D synthetic magnetic data, and the maximum values of the results can indicate the depths effectively.
