Abstract
Many examples are available in the scientific literature confirming the importance of integration in geophysics. However, it is difficult to estimate quantitatively the economic impact of integration in the exploration workflow. Consequently it is difficult to decide if additional budget must be allocated for acquiring, processing and interpreting multidisciplinary geophysical data, like gravity and electromagnetic data. In this work, I describe an integrated interpretation approach of gravity and marine Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) data. Then I show that the financial benefits obtained by integrating multidisciplinary information can be quantified by evaluating the impact on the exploration risk. I show that the economic value of integration (VOINT) can be predicted using a Bayesian approach. This approach is aimed at supporting the decisional process in exploration; moreover it can be exported into any other multidisciplinary domain. A real application is discussed for supporting the methodology.
