Abstract

Summary

Broadband towed-streamer seismic data is becoming a standard tool for hydrocarbon exploration and development, due to the clear benefits it brings for reservoir characterization. The ideal broadband data comes from modern acquisition techniques which typically use multimeasurement or variable depth streamers to mitigate the effect of receiver ghosts. However, the techniques developed to process such broadband data can also be used to bring new life to existing conventionally acquired datasets. The reprocessing of vintage seismic with a modern ‘broadband’ workflow can add new value to those datasets and provide new geological insights. In this paper, we demonstrate the application of an efficient deghosting workflow in the reprocessing of a multi-vintage heritage seismic datasets over the Dunbar field in the North Sea.
