Abstract

Summary

A novel random noise attenuation method is proposed based on the orthogonal polynomial transform. In the flattened domain, the orthogonal polynomials transform can transform the data to spectrum of orthogonal polynomials coefficients (OPC), which can describes the energy distribution of the seismic data and distinguish between effective wave and noise. We use plane wave painting technique to prepare the flattened domain required by the denoising approach based on orthogonal polynomial transform. It can be shown that the proposed approach can attenuate the noise but also preserve the AVO properties. We use both synthetic and real data to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach.
