Abstract

Summary

Multiple examples of the work demonstrate non-uniqueness of the Western Siberia oil and gas bearing province geological oil and gas zonation when designating the border of the entire province and separate oil and gas bearing regions. It is shown that the surveyors estimate the area of the oil and gas bearing lands in the province with significant discrepancies: from 2.2 to 3.6 million square kilometers. The causes of discrepancies in the estimation of the Western Siberia oil and gas bearing lands are analyzed. The main groups of factors and criteria controlling generation, migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons are established. It is determined that priority of non-tectonic control can be observed at the Western Siberia oil and gas bearing province geological oil and gas zonation with prevailing factors being the specific structure of the geological section and the established oil and gas bearing capacity. A brief specification of the Western Siberia oil and gas bearing province plays is given. Further directions of research into the Western Siberia oil and gas bearing province geological oil and gas zonation are indicated.
