Abstract
Summary
In this study, we investigated the azimuthal variation of empirical Green’s functions retrieved by the seismic interferometry of ambient noise. We found that the deconvolution method is the most reliable method to retrieve both phase and amplitude information with numerical stabilization. The frequency contents of retrieved empirical Green’s functions are also in accordance with those of event records. Comparing the causal and acausal parts (positive and negative lag) of empirical Green’s functions, the noise source characteristics in the Korean peninsula is quantitatively evaluated with PGV ratio. The ambient noise in the Korean peninsula is much stronger in the northern direction in the winter season.
