Abstract

Summary

The objective of the study is an investigation of the generation, migration and accumulation processes and prognosis of oil-and-gas content in deep occurrences of South Caspian Basin, Azerbaijan based on geochemical study and basin modeling. The results of investigation suggest the existence of several autonomous pots of HC generation: in Eocene, Oligocene-Miocene and Lower Pliocene sediments. Results of modeling allow zoning and ranking of the western flank of the SCB by degree of prospectivity: zone I — very prospective and zone II — prospective zones for oil and gas accumulations in the lower part of Productive Series and Miocene rocks; zone III — low prospective zone and zone IV — zone prospective for condensate and gas accumulations.
