Abstract
Imaging difficulties beneath gas clouds are a common problem in SE Asia and for the largest fields are solved using multicomponent OBN acquisition. For this experiment we acquired a three well 3DVSP simultaneously with an OBN 3D seismic campaign. This large 3DVSP test was conducted within deviated wells that have complex assisted lift technology. Fibre optic technology was used for the acquisition of VSP data without the use of geophones and their associated high cost of deployment due to production loss. Using distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) the acquisition of VSP data in complex well producing environment was made possible and the data acquired reveals seismic signals that can be recovered beneath strong production related noise. The processing workflow for such a dataset follows a 3DVSP sequence that starts with data denoising and includes a final prestack depth migration. Using the high density source and receiver geometry a depth migrated image of the reservoir can be obtained. In this paper we describe the experiment preparation, acquisition, processing, problems encountered and initial results.
