Abstract

Summary

Peak frequency method can be reliably used to measure P- and S- wave attenuation quality factors from both induced and natural seismicity. We developed a methodology of peak frequency determination which allows the automation of the measurement. The method is applied to a dataset of earthquake swarms. The method allows also automated selection of high quality measurement suitable for the inversion of attenuation. The automated methodology provides peak frequencies similar to those obtained with manual processing.
